Shuffleboard at Spinners takes a bar-room classic and gives it pride of place. Slide weighted pucks down a long, polished table crafted from premium Canadian maple, aim for the high-scoring zones at the far end and do everything you can to knock your rivals' pucks out of the way.
The rules take about a minute to learn, but the game is dangerously easy to get hooked on. Every slide is a choice: play it safe and stack up steady points, or go on the attack and send someone else's puck flying. One moment you're cruising, the next your best puck has been bumped into the gutter.
With quick rounds and constant back-and-forth, shuffleboard keeps the whole group involved. There's no equipment to master and no experience needed. Just line up your puck, judge your pace and let it glide.

Only pucks that are ahead of your rivals’ best puck count for points, so every round stays alive until the final slide. The further down the table your puck finishes, the more it’s worth, and a puck hanging over the far edge of the table is the most valuable of all. Slide too hard, though, and your puck sails off the end and out of the round.
Sometimes the smartest slide isn’t chasing points at all. It’s parking a blocker in front of your best puck, or clattering your rival’s top scorer into the gutter.
Want to improve your chances? Pace is everything. A smooth, steady slide beats a big shove every time, and watching how the table plays during the first few pucks will tell you exactly how much power you need.

The further your puck travels, the more points it can earn, as long as it stays on the table and ahead of your rivals’ pucks. Players take turns, rounds are quick and the lead can change with a single slide.
It’s a fair comparison. Think curling without the ice, the brooms or the shouting. Both games are about sliding towards a target, protecting your best positions and knocking your rivals out of contention.

Shuffleboard works brilliantly for two players head-to-head or as a team game, with players taking turns on each side. Larger groups can rotate in between rounds, so nobody’s stuck watching for long.

Points are awarded at the end of each round, once all the pucks have been played. Only the pucks sitting ahead of your rivals’ furthest puck count, and the zone your puck finishes in decides how many points it’s worth.

At Spinners we use a hypoallergenic shuffleboard powder, so you can play comfortably without worrying about what’s on your hands. If it ends up on your clothes, it brushes off easily.
Focus on pace before anything else. Use a smooth, level slide and aim to stop your puck in the far scoring zones rather than firing it at full speed.
Then think tactically. Knock your rivals’ pucks out of scoring positions, use your spare pucks to guard your best one, and save your boldest slide for when you really need it.
It’s also worth watching the pucks that go before yours. Every table plays slightly differently, and the first few slides will teach you plenty.
There’s no special kit needed, but we operate a smart casual dress code. Sportswear isn’t permitted, including jogging bottoms, team shirts, tracksuits and sports shorts.
