The Game

Bowls, but electrified.

Roll glowing LED balls towards the jack on a smart, light-up court, while the technology tracks every roll, works out the distances and keeps score automatically.
More about electric boules

Electric Boules at Spinners takes the classic game of bowls and drags it firmly into the future. Roll glowing LED balls towards the jack on a smart, light-up court, while the technology tracks every roll, works out the distances and keeps score automatically.

The court reacts as you play. Colour-changing lighting pulses with the action, the balls and jack glow, and a large screen keeps the leaderboard ticking over. You can even snap a selfie and put yourselves in the game.

With four different game modes and live scoring, every round brings something new. There's no bowling green etiquette, no complicated rules to learn and no experience needed. Just pick up a ball, line up your roll and see whether you can finish closest to the jack, or paint the court, hit the bullseye and sink a few battleships along the way.

Real rolls, glowing balls and plenty of friendly rivalry.

Electric Boules is one of seven games at Spinners. Pair it with food and drinks, bring the crowd with a group package, or make it a gift with a Spinners voucher.

Six Steps

How it works.

Players take turns rolling from the same end of the court, and the technology does the rest.
  1. Add each player’s name using the touch screen.
  2. Choose from the four available game modes.
  3. Take your place at the end of the court.
  4. Check the screen to see what you’re aiming for.
  5. Roll your ball down the court towards the jack or target area.
  6. Watch the court light up and your points land on the leaderboard.

The four game modes

Classic

The traditional bowls game, reinvented for casual play. Finish closest to the jack to score.

Turf Wars

The court becomes a grid. Roll your ball over it to paint squares, steal territory and rack up points.

Bowls-eye

The jack becomes the centre of a dartboard-style target. Land your balls in the high-scoring zones to win big.

Battle Bowls

Hide your ships, then hunt down your opponents’. Score points for a hit and bonus points for total destruction.

The smart court does the maths for you

Computer vision tracks each ball, distances are measured automatically and a next-turn indicator tells you whose go it is. No tape measures, no arguments over who’s closest, so you can focus on your roll, plan your next move and prepare an excuse if your score isn’t quite going to plan.

Want to improve your chances? Pace matters more than power. Roll the ball smoothly, watch how it travels across the court and adjust a little at a time. Sometimes the smartest move isn’t getting close to the jack, it’s knocking someone else’s ball out of the way.

The court reacts as you play.

Electric Boules FAQs.

Got questions about Electric Boules at Spinners? Whether you want to know how the game works, how many people can play or whether you need to be a bowls expert, you’re in the right place.

Electric Boules is a tech-powered version of the classic bowls game, played on a compact indoor court with illuminated LED balls and a glowing jack. Players take turns rolling their balls down the court, while computer vision tracks every roll, measures the distances and keeps score automatically.

Colour-changing lighting reacts to the gameplay, and a large screen shows the game, the leaderboard and whose turn is next.

It’s the same idea, minus the lawn, the whites and the hushed silence. Like traditional bowls, the classic mode is about rolling your balls closer to the jack than your rivals.

The difference is everything around it: a compact indoor court, glowing balls, reactive lighting, automatic scoring and a set of game modes that traditional bowls has definitely never seen. It’s built for social play, not championship play.

There are four Electric Boules game modes to choose from: Classic, Turf Wars, Bowls-eye and Battle Bowls.

You can try several modes during your session or stick with a favourite and go for the rematch.

Electric Boules is designed for 2 to 8 players per court, making it ideal for couples, small groups and bigger get-togethers alike. The next-turn indicator keeps things moving, so nobody’s left wondering whose go it is.

A standard Electric Boules booking lasts for 55 minutes. This gives your group time to get set up, try different game modes and build a proper leaderboard battle.

Session lengths and availability can vary, so check the details shown when booking your chosen venue.

No experience is needed. Electric Boules is designed for social players, including complete first-timers.

The rolling action is easy to pick up, the screen guides you through each game and the range of modes means everyone can get involved. A seasoned bowls player may arrive feeling confident, but that doesn’t mean they’ll leave with the highest score.

Yes. Computer vision tracks every ball, measures the distances and updates the score as you play. There’s no need for a tape measure, a scorecard or a debate about whose ball is closest.

Simply enter each player’s name before you begin and follow the live leaderboard throughout the game.

Start with a smooth, controlled roll rather than launching the ball down the court. Watch how your first ball travels and adjust your pace a little at a time.

Think tactically too. Depending on the game mode, the best roll might be the one that lands closest to the jack, captures the right square, hits the high-scoring zone or knocks a rival’s ball out of a winning position.

It’s also worth watching the players who go before you. Their rolls can help you judge the pace of the court.

You won’t need any bowls gear, but we operate a smart casual dress code. Sportswear isn’t permitted, including jogging bottoms, team shirts, tracksuits and sports shorts.

Within that, wear something comfortable that allows you to move freely. Flat, stable footwear is the best choice when rolling. Avoid anything that may affect your balance or make it difficult to stand safely on the playing surface. Full details are in our booking terms.

Yes. Electric Boules is made for group play and friendly rivalry. It’s a great choice for birthday parties, date nights, work socials, family get-togethers and casual nights out with friends.

With space for up to 8 players per court and live scoring on screen, the whole group stays involved from the first roll to the final result. You can even take a group selfie and see yourselves in the game. Booking for 8 or more? Take a look at our group and party packages.

Yes. Electric Boules at Spinners is fully indoors. You can play whatever the weather is doing outside and enjoy food or drinks between games.

Accessibility can differ between venues and playing areas. Please contact your chosen Spinners venue before booking, and our team can confirm access arrangements and help you plan your visit.
